Encompassing Kids

The 2011 Manitoba Teachers' Society Conference on Appropriate Education

Encompassing Kids

Welcome!

The 2011 MTS Encompassing Kids Conference was conceived to provide a rich and diverse professional development experience in the area of Inclusive/Appropriate Education.  More than that, however, it was a starting point for fruitful professional dialogue and relationships for years to come.

To that end, we created this Ning to make it that much easier for you to make connections and to share in the ideas, resources, and approaches of the presenters and other colleagues.  Click around, explore, learn, share, and have fun!

How to do simple stuff on this ning

Start a discussion
Discussions are the heart and soul of this ning--and the best way to get feedback from your fellow Encompassing Kids members. To start a discussion, go to the main page. Find the “Forum” column, scroll to the end and click the small “Start discussion” button on the left-hand side.

Add my profile photo (or change my photo)
We really do want to see you. Make sure you’re signed into the Ning. Click the “My Page” tab at the top of any page. Under your photo in the upper left corner find “Manage my Page or Photo", then click "Photo.”

Greet a new member
New members appreciate others greeting them as they join the ning. Simply click on their photo or head and shoulders icon anywhere you see it. This will take you to their profile page, where you can then write on their “Comment Wall.” To greet them privately, go to their profile page and click “Send a Message” under their photograph in the upper left corner.

See all Ning members
To everyone who's a member of this ning, go to “Members” on the main page. Click on “View all” at the bottom right of the box.

Add a friend
You can send a friend request by going to the personal profile page of any ning member and clicking “Add as Friend” under their photograph in the upper left corner. Your friend request will be sent.

Send a message to a friend
1) Go to their profile page and write on their comment wall.
2) For private messaging, go to their profile page and under their photo in the upper left corner, click “Send a Message."
3) Or click on your “Inbox” at the top of any page (you must be signed in), click “Compose,” then click “Choose from Friends.”.

Send a message to someone who is not yet a friend
Go to their profile page and under their photo in the upper left-hand corner, click “Send a Message.” You can do this without knowing their email address.

Add photos or videos
Click the “Photos” or “Videos” tab at the top of any page. Then click on “Add Photos” or “Add videos” and follow the prompts.

Search the Ning
Go to the main page and look in the upper right corner for the “search” field. It works wonderfully.
